Dance Insured....

Sounds crazy , right? Insurances are made of lives, cars, bikes, butts and a lot other weird stuff.....but how do you insure dance? Interesting thought though.....what if you could insure your dance? But then on second thoughts...can you insure that hearty laugh you shared with your buddies at the last reunion, childhood fun, first kiss, last tear shed , the warmth you feel for your loved ones or for that matter the blessings you ask for every time you pray?  You cannot insure feelings and the same applies for dance too.

Did all that talk of insurance remind you of the next premium payment that is due or the upcoming insurance plan you were thinking about? Lol....if it really did :-D

It was a few weeks back, that we had the opportunity to perform at one of the most reputed institutions of India - National Insurance Academy. The first thought that crossed my mind was, "What is there to teach about insurance? You just give it or get it!!" Well, for the starters, Insurance is a much bigger subject than we ever think about....seriously. Alright, let me be frank...the thing that awed me about the place were quite a few. The sprawling campus, well-maintained greenery, striking cleanliness, awesome food and the heart-warming hospitality. I mean, if given an option I would've stayed there for a course.

The next thought that came to me was. "What are we doing here? I mean how does Insurance and Odissi mingle?" It does not. But then, performing in front of an extremely learned and an interested audience coming from across the globe is the biggest morale booster for any performer.

The best part about the campus was these clay figurines decorating the turns and corners, that lent the whole place a very homely and aesthetic feeling. The only dampener was the weather....which was far from what could be even called as mildly cold and the fact that I did not carry my cam to capture the nature around :-(

The main attraction that we all loved  was these absolutely adorable cuddly two little pugs which were there at Supriya aunty's place. :-) Shraoshee and Priyanka just couldn't have enough of them..hehehehe....

Supriya Aunty and her cuties

Well, it was very amusing to see that although Bindu aunty and supriya aunty were childhood friends, I found them more to be like two sisters....watsay?
Bindu aunty and Supriya aunty --- friends or sisters?

The show went pretty good with Bindu aunty debuting as the compere (she's good!!) and the rest of us having a gala time at her expense :-P It was fun to see her rehearsing her lines backstage and trying to put up a brave front ;-)

All said and done, it was a lovely trip in all and it was all due to Muralidharan uncle (Supriya aunty's husband) who was the actual person to have initiated it all.....thanks a lot!! There have been a lot of times when your show goes good, you pack up your stuff and just leave and forget stuff around it... but then there are times when the warmth, the hospitality and the ambience around you leaves you just as happy as if you are a part of it....this was one of those times!!

Till the next trip,

Ciao,
A.M.K
